One of my favourite jobs to work on during my internship was a Lyle Lovett show poster for Durham Performing Arts Centre. The client had a previous poster they particularly liked, so I looked there for inspiration, and to get an idea of what they liked. It had a wood texture background with a gap for the text, and a border made up of various imagery including horses and guitars from the Hatch archive.
I went for a similarly rustic, country / southern charm vibe with decorative elements. I found some lovely floral border blocks, which I arranged into a header and footer design with some rules. They reminded me of tooled leather, so I wanted to print them in a tan colour to reference that idea. I wanted the text in a steely/denim blue - heading towards indigo, but softer. Overall, I was really happy with how this poster came together!
