Hannah Farthing is an illustrator, designer & printmaker who works from her studio in Suffolk, England. After completing an Art Foundation at Suffolk New College, Hannah went on to study Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, where she spent most of her time working in the print rooms, experimenting and developing her skills in a variety of print processes.
In the summer of 2016, Hannah travelled to Nashville, Tennessee to complete an internship as a designer/printer at legendary letterpress poster shop Hatch Show Print.
The natural world, music, Americana, words, stories, wanderlust and ephemera provide rich sources of inspiration for Hannah. She brings these influences together in her linocuts and letterpress prints to create images that intertwine type and illustration. Each element of an image is hand carved from lino and/or hand set letterpress type, which is then inked and printed on vintage printing presses.
Areas of interest: gig posters, book covers,
packaging, logos and projects where type and
illustration work together.
